ArtQuest 2013!

IMG_1014April 25, 2013 marked the 16th annual Southern High School all school art exhibition, ArtQuest. Just as one our senior artist’s highlighted on her display, “If you can dream it, you can do it” – Walt Disney, the show surely proved so, and beyond. Student’s from all grade levels K-12 had the opportunity to exhibit their work, and the show certainly validated everyone’s hard work this school year. This year’s juror, former Southern High School student and now professional artist, Lee Nowell, had her work cut out for her in selecting award winners in over 50 different categories. Over $2,000 dollars were awarded to the winning students this year.

If you have time, check out our ArtQuest fanpage on Facebook! Click HERE for more images from this year’s show. Check out one of the news articles highlighting our show here.

It was a very open ended assignment. For almost every level 1 portrait unit I teach, I incorporate working whiteContinue Reading

Drapes, Folds, & Wrinkles ~ Drawing Fabric!

After my Drawing for Fashion I students finished up a unit on portraiture, we dove right into drawing fabric. I thought I would share my approach to introducing how to render fabric for Drawing forContinue Reading
